From the Director
As we close out another unforgettable summer, our hearts are full of gratitude. To our campers: thank you for your smiles, your laughter, and your courage to try new things. To our parents: thank you for your trust, support, and partnership. And to our dedicated staff: thank you for pouring your energy, care, and belief into creating something extraordinary.
It is truly rare to find a place where children feel safe to push themselves, discover new passions, and grow in ways that will last far beyond the summer. The friendships, the accomplishments, and the joy we shared will stay with us always.
We are all cheering you on as you go into this school year, and can’t wait to welcome you back for another season of smiles and growth in 2026!

From The Waterfront
Wow - how is it week seven already?! Time down here at the waterfront has flown by and what a great summer it has been! While the sun is setting on Summer 2025, our memories will carry us through the school year: paddle races, crabbing, sting ray sightings, water table and splash pad fun, sails to Centerport Beach, and even a few lucky days sailing to Sand City (aka Nebraska)!
This session we’re so proud of the following Heron and Eagle campers for their persistence, dedication, and hard work. They have officially earned their Level 1 sailing certification and are now able to sail on their own!
Congratulations to: Alex, Brayden, Christopher, Colin, Gabby, Jeremy, Natalie, Shilah, Rowan, and Teddy
We also wrapped up our paddle racing fundraiser. We raised over $1,000, all of which is going directly to those camps impacted by the flooding in Texas. Thanks to all families who supported this great cause!
All of us down at the waterfront hope everyone has tons of fun in the remaining couple weeks of summer and a fabulous school year! We can’t wait to sail and paddle with you all in summer 2026 :)

Eagles
The Eagles have rounded out the last week of camp in the best way possible! Starting out the week at the Long Island Adventure Park, the Eagles had a great time climbing and soaring their way through obstacles and ziplines up in the trees. It was impressive to see how fearless our campers were, taking on the highest of challenges at the park. Shoutout to Kira “Kai” Carroll for being the only Eagle to complete the Double Black Diamond course, it was quite the challenge and she impressively flew through each and every obstacle.
Throughout the remainder of the week, the Eagles have soaked in every moment of the last few days of camp. During the staff talent show on Thursday, counselors Will and Michael showed their singing skills in a fabulous duet of “Love is an Open Door” from Frozen. At the end of the day, campers had the opportunity to join in on the fun during the paper plate awards and Eagles/Ducklings talent show! Our Eagles truly showed what it meant to be leaders, heading up on the stage to dance and party with the Ducklings. Another shoutout to Aubree, Quinn, Kallye, Mika, Lola, and Scarlet for taking the Ducklings “under their wing” and truly showing what it means to be an Eagle at Camp Alvernia!
It has been a wonderful summer here at Camp Alvernia, and we are already looking forward to next summer!

Herons
The final week of Camp Alvernia was a memorable one for the Heron age group, filled with excitement, and big accomplishments. Campers Abby, Teddy, Colin, Jeremy, Brayden, Gabby, Shiloh, Natalie, and Rowan all earned their sailing certifications, showing incredible teamwork and determination out on the water. With beautiful weather every day, the Herons made the most of their last week, enjoying activities around camp and soaking in every moment with their friends and counselors.
The week wrapped up with an unforgettable Carnival Day, packed with laughter and fun. The dunk tank was a big hit, with campers cheering each other on as they took turns trying to soak their favorite staff members. The water slides provided nonstop thrills and a perfect way to cool off. It was the perfect ending to an amazing summer.

Ospreys
This week at Camp Alvernia, we soaked up every last drop of sunshine and summer fun as we wrapped up an incredible season. Spirits were high, and campers made the most of every moment—from splashing in the water to laughing with friends and counselors. Wednesday we had so much fun at our mini special day: Dress as Your Favorite Movie Character! The creativity was awesome, with campers and staff showing off some truly impressive costumes.
Thursday was both our staff and camper talent shows. Huge shoutouts to Silas, Bash, Kenzo, Fiona, and Ari for their unforgettable performances that had the whole camp cheering. We closed the week—and the season—on a high note with Carnival Day on Friday. Though it was bittersweet to say goodbye, the day was filled with games, treats, and smiles, making it the perfect send-off to a summer we’ll never forget. Thanks for a fantastic season and we hope to see everyone next year!

Plovers
What a bittersweet last week of camp it has been!
The Plovers wrapped up the summer with a week full of fun, laughter, and memories to last until next year. Throughout the week, we stayed active with friendly games of kickball, basketball, and volleyball, and let our creativity flow during arts and crafts. Dance time was a big hit, with campers learning new moves and practicing for the talent show. On Thursday, campers shined on stage during the talent show by showing off their singing, dancing, and hula hooping skills. Kate and Lily loved dancing to Swagger Jagger.
On our very last day together, we celebrated in style! Campers enjoyed racing down the water slides, munching on popcorn, and dancing to the DJ’s tunes. The dunk tank was the perfect grand finale, with plenty of splashes and cheers as staff and campers joined in the fun.
We hope everyone has a great school year, and we hope to see you back at camp next summer!

Sandpipers
Hello Sandpiper Families!
As the final week of the summer comes to a close, we can reflect on the amazing camp season we had in 2025. This week, every camper was feeling the excitement as they tie-dyed their last shirts, went paddling at the waterfront, and slid down the waterslide at the pool. The whole camp dressed up as their favorite movie character on Wednesday.
On Friday, we celebrated the last day of camp with carnival day. We had games, a DJ for dance, and even a dunk tank where campers could try to get their counselor in the tank! The weather was amazing, and the Sandpipers were able to get the most out of the week.
Emotions are running high as every camper and staff member are sad to see the summer end. We would love to see you all back here at Camp Alvernia for the 2026 season.

Ducklings
The Ducklings had a wonderful last week of camp! We got to go sailing twice, where we had fun helping the boating staff to steer, we saw animals like crabs, fish, and birds, and we got more comfortable on the water! On Thursday we enjoyed watching the staff talent show, and getting involved in our own talent show! We had lots of great performances, and the Ducklings loved singing and dancing together! Zach, Maddie, Ella Rose, and more got to show off their awesome dance moves to everyone!
Finally, on Friday, we celebrated the last day of camp with Carnival Day! We got to play lots of fun carnival games, like bowling, going in a ball pit, using a dunk tank, going on waterslides, and more! It was a great last day, full of fun and laughter! We’re so sad that camp is coming to an end, but we wish everyone the best school year, and we can’t wait to see you next year!

Badyr’s Quote of the Week
Dear Alvernia Family,
I came across this quote and thought it would be great to share it with you, not just because I am a Yankees fan. More so for the message.
“We just want to win. That’s the bottom line. I think a lot of times people may become content with one championship or a little bit of success, but we don’t really reflect on what we’ve done in the past. We focus on the present.” -Derek Jeter
Best regards,
Badyr
