Welcome to Family Camp 2020!

We are so excited to have you and your family come and experience a day on our gorgeous 15 acre wooded waterfront property. Please read on to find out more about this relaxing outdoor camp experience for your family.

A day at our Family Camp means your family will be one of just seven family cohorts on the grounds at a time. You’ll have your own home base cabin for the day, with a private bathroom and air conditioning, as well as access to the great outdoors with no chance of a crowd.

The sprawling Alvernia campus makes it easy for your family cohort to remain physically distant from other families while enjoying pool, boating, and more. Bring your kids to one of their favorite places and don’t forget to have fun yourself!

DAY RATE (9am-4pm)

Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday:

$300 per cabin for up to 4 people and $50 per additional person. Under 2 years old is free. 10 people maximum per cabin.

Saturday or Sunday:

$425 per cabin for up to 4 people and $50 per additional person. Under 2 years old is free. 10 people maximum per cabin.

What can I expect?

After you arrive, check in at the office, and receive a bracelet for the day, you will be given a map of the grounds, your cabin name and schedule of activities for your specific cabin if you would like to participate in them.

Each cabin is only for your family cohort. You will have access to air conditioning, a bathroom, electricity, a space to change, a place to keep your things and your own picnic table located right outside. There will not be a refrigerator available so please bring a cooler for any perishables. There is also no wifi on the grounds.

Each cabin will have one time slot for boating and two for pools. Please stay within your designated time slots for your cabin to ensure that we are following all proper physical distancing guidelines.

Every family/cohort needs to remain together the entire time. For example, if your family/cohort is at the pool at 9am, then the whole family/cohort will need to be at the pool together. Half of your family cannot go to the pool and the other half to basketball. This is Family Camp, a time for families to participate in camp activities together. There will be ample time for you and your family to do a multitude of activities throughout the day.

We recommend you bring your own Coast Guard approved PFD (personal flotation device) which is required for all to go out on the boats. You will not be permitted to boat without a PFD. We have limited PFD’s available which will be cleaned and disinfected between uses but to limit sharing, if you have your own, please bring it.

You will have access to canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards. Small children may use our 6ft mini-kayaks and power paddlers. There will be boating staff present but they will not be available to take you and your family out on the boats. Sailboats will NOT be available.

Do we have to wear masks?

You will be required to wear masks when checking in at the beginning of the day, going inside any building besides your own cabin, and whenever you are unable to remain at least 6 feet away from others that are not in your family. Please do not approach our staff or other groups unmasked. While outside and with your family, you are free to remain unmasked.

Will food be provided?

Other than snacks, ice cream and drinks being sold at the canteen, there will not be food provided. Please bring whatever food/drinks you need for the day and remember that we are a nut aware camp. Plan to eat all food from home at your cabin to limit exposing other attendees to possible allergens. There are water fountains available throughout the campus to refill your water bottles, however, we ask that you not drink directly from them to limit the possible spread of COVID-19.

What if it is supposed to rain on the day I come?

Rain is part of camp sometimes! If it is a light drizzle and we are confident it is safe for us to open we will be open. If it begins to thunder and you must miss your boating or swim hour you will be rescheduled for later in the day if available. If we are unable to, you will be offered a partial refund of $50. If we decide to cancel the day, you will be given the opportunity to reschedule to another day.

What if I have to cancel the day I am supposed to come?

Once you have booked a cabin there will be no refunds. You can choose to send another family in your stead but the family must speak with a Camp Alvernia Program Coordinator before the switch can be made. You can also choose to donate your cabin to one of our scholarship families. If you must cancel due to illness, please submit a doctor’s note within 7 days to receive a full refund to your original payment method, less a $50 processing fee. Please contact us as soon as possible for any issues.

What can I do on campus?

Camp Alvernia has 15 acres of space to enjoy being outside with your family. You can swim, enjoy boating during your designated time and any pre-scheduled activities available that day. We have tennis, handball, basketball, and volleyball courts, two gaga pits, baseball field, soccer field and beach area for you and your family to enjoy. Please bring whatever equipment you will need to utilize these areas and label them with your family name. Camp Alvernia is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.

How will the cabins and shared spaces be cleaned?

Cabins will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at the end of each day after all the guests have left. Any equipment from boating will be sanitized between uses. High touch surfaces at the pool areas and around camp will be cleaned and sanitized multiple times during the day, as well as at the end of the day. In addition to your family’s private cabin bathroom, we also have a shared, single use bathroom located at boating and another near the tennis courts; these will also be cleaned and sanitized multiple times throughout the day, as well as at the end of the day.

How many people will be allowed on camp grounds during the day?

There will be a maximum of 70 guests allowed on camp grounds at a time on any single given day.
