We have just begun Week 4 of the 2011 summer, and it’s been fantastic! We have more campers this year than last, and only two of our full-time staff are new this summer! Wow! We have a few important announcements for you:
Wednesday Evening Events
We invite you to stop by on a Wednesday night for either a Campfire/BBQ or an Outdoor Movie! These events are open to our entire community, and help us raise money for our upcoming pool project! The next two events are:
July 20, 7:30pm – Outdoor Movie and Pizza: Despicable Me (movie begins approx. 8:15pm)
July 27, 7-9pm – Campfire and BBQ

Family Boating Night
On Friday August 5, from 6-8pm, we’re opening up our beautiful waterfront for families and individuals to boat and eat. We’ll be raffling off a brand new kayak by Emotion Kayaks! You could win! We’ll also be offering opportunities to sponsor one of our camp boats with the name of your family or business! RSVP required, email ariel@campalvernia.org for more information.
Donor Visitation Day
On Friday August 5 we’re inviting all of our donors to come to camp for a special tour around camp. It’s a chance to hear some special stories from campers and families about how much Camp Alvernia has meant to them. We’ll begin around 10am and end with lunch! Camp Video Opportunity
Our camp videographer Corey Hayes has done a wonderful job the last few summers documenting the story of each summer with a camp video. This year he would like to include some alumni in a simple visual illustration of campers through the years. To accomplish this, he needs alumni from every decade. If you would like to help us out please write back to this email for more information.
Brick Sponsorship Opportunity
As you may already know, we are so close to building our new pool project by our target date of this fall after camp. Get your name engraved in Camp Alvernia history by sponsoring a brick on the new pool patio. Engrave your name or message on one of five different size options.
